Innovative Fashion Gala Where Inclusion Is Celebrated

At the amazing gala, Design For Disability put on by the Cerebral Palsy Foundation, models with various disabilities were able to walk down the runway showcasing innovative fashion designed for them. Models with disabilities provided mentorship to designers to cater to and address their specific needs around clothing and getting dressed. Watch the incredible video here.

Two Veterans Start Companies Devoted to Creating Jobs for Veterans

Vietnam veterans Tony Accamando and John Piazza started their third company that hires veterans called Veterans Pro Services. They also started the nonprofit, Life Changing Service Dogs for Veterans and Veterans Cable Services Inc. Their motto is “To say ‘thank you for your service’ is not enough. Man with Down Syndrome Speaks to the U.N.

John Franklin Stephens’ speech to the U.N. about inclusion is very powerful. He says “see me as a human being, not a birth defect, not a syndrome.” Watch the video of his speech where he states how powerful inclusion is for him and how it made him who he is today.

One of the First “Autism Friendly” Cities

Austin, Minnesota is making many city-wide efforts to be more welcoming to people with autism. “The Autism Friendly Austin project has enlisted schools, businesses and residents in working to accommodate people with autism.” The Hormel Historic Home started the program and hired on a community autism resource specialist who has already gotten support from about a dozen businesses.
