Annual Autism Benefit Show Airing On HBO

The show will feature stand-up performances, sketches and short films and will be hosted by Jon Stewart (former Daily Show host). “Night of Too Many Stars” benefits the nonprofit NEXT for AUTISM over the course of the year and will be presented live from The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York. The annual show has raised over $24 million for the nonprofit, which has developed a charter school for students on the spectrum in Harlem as well as the Center for Autism and the Developing Brain. The show will air November 18th at 8 pm ET on HBO.

The “FoodBank for Sports Equipment”

Max Levitt started Leveling the Playing Field, a nonprofit that he describes as a “food bank for sports equipment.” The organization collects used athletic equipment and donates it to low-income schools and nonprofits that apply for equipment.  Hear the full story of how Max started this organization after seeing near brand-new equipment being wasted. 

San Diego Housing Homeless Vets in a Unique Way

Through an initiative called Housing Our Heroes, the city of San Diego found homes for 1,007 homeless veterans in 17 months. “As a matter of patriotism, as a matter of practicality, we decided to focus our efforts on housing homeless vets in early 2016,” San Diego Housing Commission President and CEO Rick Gentry said.

Man Pushes Best Friend in a Wheelchair 500 Miles

Patrick Gray and his best friend Justin Skeesuck, who uses a wheelchair due to a neuromuscular disease similar to ALS, trekked 500 miles across Spain. Gray pushed Skeesuck 500 miles which was documented in a film and book, both entitled “I’ll Push You.” Watch this inspiring interview and see why this trek “restored their faith in humanity”.
